SAIGON VOICE

More particularly, people have favour as the same time prejudice about the inner-city accents of Ho Chi Minh or usually called as Saigon, Hue and Hanoi _ these cities represented for 3 parts of Vietnam. However, this situation is changing (slowly) as more and more as people keep moving to big cities for better jobs. Since people start to blend in inner-city accents also start to change. And some individuals modify their accents to sound more refined when talking to people outside their immediate circle of family and friends. They become bi-accented. It still can be identified that Saigon have a light sweet voice with a rustic sound of the root from the general South, and if said Vietnamese speak like singing, is indeed only the Hanoi is "talking as singing", and only the earnest voice of Hue’s can be evaluated with such similes.
There is distinguished aspects in Saigoners’s voice from the others. The expression words “nghen” and“ hen” at the end of sentences, to show enthusiasm and care for others, they also sound similar to the word “ bien ” in French. Saigoners accent is easily cause mistakes while pronouncing these consonants “ d, v and gi “ same as “ y, v, z ” sound in english. They also have a habit of using the word “ da " with a down tone when replying ( exactly the same sound and meaning as “ ja ” in Germany) and adding the word “ little” for everything nice and feminine, for example we love to call “ little Saigon” than Ho Chi Minh city.
